Lacrosse

Because options for kids sports has been limited (ok - I really mean non existent) in Hood River, Charlie has been playing on a Lacrosse club team in Portland.  Thank goodness for a mild winter so far!  The club is actually for a summer travel team and it turns out that the tournaments are not too far (in distance) away - phew!  Since it's a competitive team that required tryouts to make the team, we are grateful that Charlie made it on the team and has the opportunity to play.  We are looking forward to game time in several months.  In the meantime, we are hopeful that the spring community league in Hood River will be able to start.

Snow Days

We had several snow days last week.  The boys had a blast!

I "Heart" You

We did our annual tradition of putting one affirmation heart every day on the boys' bedroom door leading up to Valentine's Day.  Starting on February 1st, I place one heart every day with a message about what we love about each of them, with the last heart on Valentines day.  The boys enjoyed waking up and finding which heart was newly placed overnight.

And, the sweetest thing of all, was that Lukas had saved his hearts from last year (without us even realizing it!).  This was so funny, because we had thrown away many of his "random stashes" that accumulate in his drawers on multiple occasions throughout the year.  We never came across where he had hidden these.  He always surprises us with his sweetness!

Double Digits

Wow!  Charlie is 10 years old!  Where has the time gone??  He had a great birthday, despite it still having to be during a pandemic.

The day started with donuts, followed by a scavenger hunt to locate his gift - a new scooter.  Charlie has been asking for a scooter for a while now, and hasn't had one for a few years.  He was super excited about it.  He said it was "sick" so I guess it means we picked out the right one!

Then, he did his birthday ride on the Peloton with his favorite instructor, Ally Love.  No shoutout, but he got in a good workout.

Then, we were off to the skate park with a few friends to try out his new scooter.  Here is video of Charlie at the skate park attempting a trick.

Then, back home to call Papa Moo, Grammy, and Auntie Dena, for them to send birthday greetings and open a gift (thank goodness for FaceTime).  Then, we hunkered down to watch the Super Bowl and enjoy pizza.  I don't think the day could have been better!

Lacrosse

The boys can hardly wait for Lacrosse season to begin in the Spring.  We are hoping that the local sports season will not be impacted yet again because of COVID.

This will be Lukas' first season, since he had to miss out last year.  He is so excited to play.  We are thankful that Charlie has had the opportunity to have been playing on a few club teams in Portland throughout the Winter.

Winter Sunshine

We took advantage of the sun a few weeks back and did some walking, shadow tag, and tree climbing.  We are grateful for how much sunshine we have received this Winter.  It certainly has helped bear the colder temps.
