In Memory

Just after celebrating life, we also had to say good-bye to my grandfather - Louie Coehlo.  He was 102 years young (he would have been 103 in October).  What spirit and humor he had; I will have so many fond memories of him.  It was beautiful to celebrate his life with so many others who loved him.

This picture was taken a month after his 102nd birthday.

Grandpa Louie served in the Army and therefore had the Honor Guard present for the burial.  What an amazing ceremony with the flag folding and gun salute.

We'll miss you dearly!

Lukas is 5

I can't believe Lukas turned five a few weeks ago!!  How did the time go by so fast?  Since we felt time is speeding by, we did a race car themed birthday party with a few friends from Preschool.

I enjoy finding food ideas for the theme on Pinterest.

Of course the kids ganged up on Paul for the water balloon fight.

More Fair

Another highlight of the fair was the rides.  Both Charlie and Lukas love the rides; they're little thrill seekers!  Charlie is too short for many of them, which really bummed him out.

Kiddie Roller Coaster -
the cars twisted around as it went along the track so it was actually really fun!

An oldie but goodie - Merry-Go-Round

Mirror Maze

Charlie liked this one so much he went twice.

Fair TIme

Next up on Charlie's trip was the California State Fair.  Showing cows at the fair was a staple of my childhood.  I was glad my kids got to experience it.

Washing the cows to keep them clean and cool in the heat.

Getting Trixie ready for the show ring.

Getting asked questions about Trixie by the judge.

Parade of cows in the ring.

Nice job Charlie!

The fair is hard work.

There is a lot of relaxing time too (with Cousin Ashley).

Charlie like to let Trixie nap on him; he loves her so much.  The pair got a lot of attention from onlookers..."What a cute boy and his cow!" they would say.

Pros at the fair.

Papa Moo made it happen!  Thank you!

Next Stop Modesto

After Tahoe, Charlie visited Modesto and stayed with Grammy and Papa Moo.  So of course cows were involved...

Here Charlie is getting Trixie ready for the fair with a shower

and a haircut.

Tractors are always a given on the farm.

Including grasshopper trapping

and trench digging.

Summer Adventures Continued

Next was Charlie's turn for his annual trip to California.  This year he was gone a total of three weeks.   He started his adventure in Lake Tahoe with Mimi and Far Far.  Always a fun time by the lake!

The car ride down was made more fun with a fellow passenger - Tiny (the sibling from the same litter as our two cats)

Can't get enough of the lake!
