Here is Charlie's class, minus three kids. Such a fun group!
The school verse for the year was Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
Charlie's teacher, Mrs. Marble, awarded each child with an award naming one of these traits that matched their personalities. Charlie was awarded with "Whatever is Right." For those of you who know him, this definitely rings true (she nailed it!). Whatever Charlie tries, he wants to do it right. He seeks affirmation from others of how well he's doing something and, since he hasn't developed his full social filter yet, he points out when others are doing it "wrong." We have been working on that to help him learn how to share his thoughts from a loving and well-meaning place to help others improve, versus from a critical place. Pair this trait with his competitiveness and he is one driven kid. We love that he is internally motivated.
Fittingly, during the award presentations for the other classes he and his friends were trying to guess who was getting each character award. Charlie could be heard celebrating when he guessed right. Charlie's teacher and I exchanged a chuckle, confirming how well she captured him.
The verse she gave him to reference was Psalm 23:3 "...He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake."
