What a blessing having our own parents experience the joy of our newborn child. It was a surreal moment for Paul as we left the hospital with Lukas realizing, this is the last time that we will ever be doing this (taking home a newborn). The grandparents have been a huge help, mostly with occupying Charlie's time while Lukas is attached to me eating. My mom lovingly stayed over the first few nights home and soothed Lukas in the middle of the night while he was still trying to figure out what this new sleep schedule was all about so that mommy could catch a few precious zzzzs. (P.S. I'm happy to report that after the first few nights at home, Lukas has been a rock star sleeper in the evenings...knock on wood).
After Grammy and Papa Moo returned to California (thanks for staying longer than intended while we waited for Lukas to finish cooking in the belly), the next shift of Grandparents were here to lend a hand.
Far Far (means Father's Father) built a railroad with Charlie,
while Mimi did what grandma's do best - swaddles and snuggles.
Mimi and Far Far brought their trailer and have been camping out in our yard. It has been a great adventure for Charlie to sleep outside in the trailer, which has been helpful for those middle of the night diaper changes in the boy's room.
Charlie has transitioned like a champ, welcoming baby brother into the family with open arms. He is already showing Lukas all of his toy trucks.
My heart is so full right now it might burst!!
